it is good - the opener drew me in where she reveals what happened when she told her dad and it was SO MY own dad's reaction (had he lived long enough to discover we were both ND) that I had to find out more. She was also one of the contestants on UK's 'Taskmaster' and I felt such an affinity with her "Oh no!"s, bless her.
Thanks so much for this great list of books! I loved Unmasking Autism and look forward to reading the others. I really appreciate your recommendations.
Best way is to Google Scholar me - Lou Harvey (University of Leeds - but my uni webpage doesn’t show my most recent work, annoyingly). I’m working on a book at the moment but I’ve an article about transrational voice and participatory arts in South Africa in Journal of Peace Education which is an early version of my current thinking. I’m not very good at being a public scholar, I’m afraid! no blogs or Twitter…
What a list! A couple I’ve not read here - thank you. Neuroqueer Heresies is one of my favourite books of all time. I’m contributing a chapter for Nick’s new book, on Neuroqueer Theory - a privilege indeed.
So glad it was helpful! And congratulations on the chapter in Nick's book, I can't wait to read it when it comes out, I'm only just starting to figure out how I might work neuroqueer theory into my own research!
Your research sounds great - really important. I’m an academic in Education with a lot of similar interests - currently writing about transrational pedagogy as a way to work through and beyond Cartesian and colonial binaries. I will watch your work with interest!
I'm currently reading comedian Fern Brady's book 'Strong Female Character' about her late autism diagnosis.
Oh, it's definitely on my list of things to read. Is it good? I'm hoping to do a round-up of Autistic memoirs and was thinking of including it!

Sounds great! I've heard her on a few podcasts and she was hilarious so I'm guessing her writing will be as well!

Thanks Rey, I hope you found it useful for where to go next!
Yea, I love Devon's work!
Thank you. This is helpful.

I’d love to hear about your research! Have you written about it on the blog?
Mostly I keep the two separate, but I'm just finishing a PhD in sociology on healing justice in Guatemala. I wrote a blog last year for the LSE which explains it a little! https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/gender/2022/09/28/time-and-space-for-embodied-feminist-pedagogies-in-the-classroom/ Are you a member of the Narratives of neurodiversity discord? It's a great space for ND people working in academia!

Oh wow, sounds like exactly what I have been writing for the last few chapters of my thesis! Is there somewhere I can find your work?
